On the lovely afternoon of May 12th, 2009, asthma supporters swung their clubs in remembrance of the tragic loss of Mark “Apple” Ampleford on September 9, 2003. During the friendly competition, the smell of barbeque on a golden summer day filled the air – in which the Ontario Lung Association fights so hard for asthmatic individuals to breathe for. Embracing Olympic champion Marnie McBean, guests crowded around with prizes and deliciously decadent desserts, making a toast to Mark “Apple” and McBean, the first Canadian to win three Summer Olympic gold medals. www.on.lung.ca
