The Venetian lives up to expectations

Not many banquet halls are quite like The Venetian, where you can look around and admire huge mosaics and glance up at a ceiling decorated with inspiring paintings and mouldings. The lobbies feature double tiers of gold, off-white and beige. The light reflects on the colours, juxtaposed with those of the mosaics and paintings to create an architectural masterpiece – a hall that not only displays art but is, in itself, a work of art.
The Venetian accommodates a variety of events, cultures and needs. It hosts everything from bachelor parties and showers to sacraments and weddings, including bar and bat mitzvahs and can cater to a wide variety of cuisines including Kosher, European, Chinese and Middle Eastern. Clients can also opt for a more traditional menu. “We pride ourselves on the diverse selection of food and services offered,” says owner Joseph Mete.
Guests can design their own menus and events in any of the rooms, which can hold up to 900 guests, including a VIP boardroom that can fit 24. Each function has its own separate lobby and suites, so “you never have a bride looking at another bride,” explains Mete. The whole environment is high-class and personal.
With its impeccable food, exquisite scenery and extensive facilities, it’s no wonder The Venetian won the 2005 Vaughan Chamber of Commerce Hospitality award. The hall sets high standards – it has a deluxe bar and offers a hot towel service after dinner. But the decoration is what takes your breath away right from the outset. As Mete says, “If you have a venue that looks nice, people respect it in a different manner.”
The Venetian will undergo renovations in January 2011. “Moulding, pin lighting, full finishing … there will even be new carpeting and chairs,” adds Mete. Proactive by nature, The Venetian prides itself on its innovative design concepts and dedication to consistently surpassing expectations. “It’s all about the fine details. We often get phone calls days after a wedding from the bride and groom telling us how amazed their guests were by the venue,” says Mete. As with anywhere, the service is only as good as its servers, a fact that Mete openly acknowledges when referring to his employees: “No one’s better. Everyone brings something different to the table.” From its extensive selection of table cloths to its glistening cutlery, The Venetian definitely brings something different to the world of hospitality. www.thevenetian.ca 905.660.1110
