A day at Eagles Nest Golf Club was filled with friendly competition, networking and enjoyable tee stops along the way. Course stops included porchetta, spiducci, Pravda Vodka, Molson Coors, Mombacho Cigars and Pizza Nova. Each year, proceeds raised from this special event go towards assisting Villa Charities’ family of organizations. The funds raised this year will benefit culturally sensitive programs for seniors at two long-term care facilities and community programs, individuals with intellectual and mental disabilities at group homes, as well as the general community via sports and cultural arts programs.

Vintage Moto Collection: A Journey Back (1948-1970)

From June 7 to July 4, 2012, the Joseph D. Carrier Art Gallery was home to 24 vintage motorini from Italy. The show was the brainchild of father-son team Mario and Glen Pestrin. During a recent visit to his hometown in Northern Italy, Mario visited a schoolmate and saw his incredible collection of more than 50 vintage motorcycles and motorini. After that, he quickly decided to share the beautiful machines with the Toronto public. Proceeds from the opening reception gala went to Villa Charities and the SickKids Foundation.

Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal

On June 17, 2012, Consiglio Di Nino (a former Canadian senator) recognized staff members and volunteers of Villa Charities for their dedicated service to peer members and the community. They were each honoured with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in the rotunda at the Joseph D. Carrier Art Gallery at Columbus Centre. La Befana Brunch

Families and friends gathered for Villa Charities’ La Befana Brunch to support children’s programs at the Columbus Centre on Jan. 8, 2012. Held in Sala Caboto at Villa Colombo, the brunch featured activities for children and a visit from La Befana herself. Proceeds from the event will go towards purchasing new toys and materials for Columbus Centre daycare programs. Read more
Villa Foundation Father’s Day Golf Classic

On June 22, 2010, over 200 guests celebrated la famiglia italiana at the Villa Foundation Father’s Day Golf Classic and Dinner Celebration. Golfers were kept busy at the porchetta station, Miss Martini sampling tent and the espresso stop, giving their swings an extra kick. In the evening, NHL legend Andy Bathgate was a guest speaker at the Father’s Day Dinner Celebration. Raising approximately $70,000, Villa Charities continues to provide social assistance and cultural development for the Italian community. It was a successful day with help from sponsors, Joseph Fusco, chair Rudy Bratty, and the organizing committee. www.villacharities.com
